...Well, just took my 79' down to the DREADED emissions inspection station for the second time since I moved here to AZ...
First time it took me 4 attempts to get the old truck through...
...This time a one shot pass *whooppee*!!!!!!!! everything except the gas caps...(AZ is hard on rubber) went down to napa and bought 2 new ones, turned around and got them inspected...everything good to go!!!
The strange part is that their computer had my truck list as an 85,000lb rig...*huh*????? perhaps thats why I had such a hard time passing last year...!!! Thanks to the inspector, its been corrected in the system...
The truck is running a little on the lean side but idle is perfect, maybe I'll play with the metering rods a bit...
Now next month I get to try it again with the harley...
Any way I jazzed and just had to share....
I feel like that guy in the Cheerios comercial telling everybody about his lowered cholesterol...
Yep, biggest scam the state of AZ has goin....
I believe anything over 100cc's, anything newer than 1967...Its a joke...You gotta run the idle way up, and screw the mixture way down...Ive had the inspectors tell me that they cant figure out how the bike was even running...every time Ive done it Ive been afraid I'll burn a piston... And this year the've gotten even more stringent...
Wow, we do not have inspections in Ark.....they just take your word....I know peopel with old big blocks(carburated) in little new S-10s or 150s/1500s....things that would never pass in a inspection state
Yea, and the funny thing is it's not state wide, only counties deemed enviormentally sensitive by the EPA gestapos
Back in Wa, it was the same way 'cept I lived in one of the out lying ares not affected by the emissions laws...Spent a LARGE chunk of change making my truck emission legal...
Thinking 'bout trying to find a decent 1966 so I can stop messing with this garbage...
Hey wabiker,
That's why everything 1966 and older is so high priced around here, lots of people want to skip the test. We all need to get together and push for the 25 year rule that a lot of states are going to. CA already has it why can't we?

...Amen on that...! Ok so where do I sign...??? The last I heard is that there is currently lesgistration pending to remove motorcycles from the test requirements......Yea right! I'll believe it when I see...There is a AZ GOV website that shows current pending legistration, Ive read it, but Ive havent see or heard anything about it since...The powers that be dont want to give up "Dem guv'mint dollars"...know what I mean??
I get to run my truck through next week some time. I just hope they don't actually look under it. They didn't last time, and it passed without a cat. I didn't even bother to check to see if it had one when I bought it.
And I thought it sucked having to do Driveclean. Up here in Ontario we have driveclean vehiles over 20years old have to go. I dont think bikes ever have to go though!! I'm going to look into that.
now you should move to NJ where the priv run state inspection station now opnes to hood to look for "illegal aftermarket items"; even though this is NOT part of the inspection rules.

...It's similiar here in AZ, state/fed funded and privately run...
The bike thing is the biggest joke...My first year here, I took my bike in to get inspected and failed, so I ran it down to a shop with an gas analyzer, retetested it and failed again, ran it back to the shop then ran it back to the inspection station where it failed again...
I'd heard rumours that different stations gave different results so after the third failure I rode the bike across town to another station and PASSED..., no adjustments, no changes, just a 10 mile ride....go figure!!! Of course after I told the inspection people what I did they had no answer...Big rip-off if ya ask me...
I had an old land yacht that wasn't a Ford that was made in 1967 and still had to pass emissions when I lived in AZ. Of course she failed and I drove around the block and paid a guy $30.00 to adjust my carb and passed the test. Then drove back after the test and he readjusted it so it ran decent.
What a joke and a ripoff!!
