Have a 1999 Windstar. Passenger PSD lock is stuck in locked position. Been that way for all but 4 days of the past 6 months. First time it happened, I believe a passenger tried to open from the inside door handle while driver pushed unlock button at the same time. Stayed locked for over 4 months, then mysteriously unlocked as I opened/closed doors and moved/removed seats for a trip. Worked as designed for the whole 3 days of the trip, then stuck in locked position again, MAYBE when same situation happened. Stayed locked another month, then came unlocked for a couple of hours after I was again opening/closing, locking/unlocking doors to load for return trip from lake. Got home and it stayed locked again. :|
I saw in another forum someone saying they'd replaced the actuators ($75 ea.) in 3 of their 4 doors, saving around $300 vs. what the dealer quoted, because of a similar-sounding problem.
Is this probably the actuator, and if so, where can I get instructions as to how to replace?!
TIA!
