Cold start highidle feature
Hey guys hope your trucks are performing the way you want them to. I have a quick question. Does the 2011+ super duty that has a factory automatic start idle high when its really cold outside. I haven't had my new truck in the winter yet but a buddy of mine has and excursion along with a f350 and after he starts it they start to idle fast. Is this a feature that comes standard in super duties or is there some kind of reprogramming that needs to be done for that to work. Just need some info on that cause I would like to set up an appointment with my local dealer in Alaska before I get back from my deployment. Thanks in advance for any info you are able to give me.

It's part of the factory programming to high idle under those conditions. There is a high idle circuit that many connect to one of the upfitter switches, but I really don't see the need. I started mine once at -10° without the block heater, and it went straight to 1,200 RPMs. After about ten seconds I put it in drive and drove away.
