Engine Chriping HELP

Engine chirping, after setting for awhile I noticed a loud distinct chirp coming from the front of my engine. It seems to be coming from what looks like the idler pulley (?) it’s bolted to the engine and seemingly to nothing else…it sets up top on the slight right side…can this just be for belt tension and can we just pull and replace?

Take the belt of and wiggle the tensior, some times the the bolt that holds them on breaks, the tensior will stay im place just not work as well, and they do wear out.
But also while the bet is off turn all of the other pulleys to check the berings

any problem with unbolting the pulley bracket and just a simple replace? Anything under or attached to the housing that holds it down?

it looks like it's mounted on a elbow with (what looks like) 1/2 bolts (housing) on either side..??or are you recommending taking the pulley wheel from the bracket with what looks like an allen bolt holding it in place? I could send a picture tomorrow

thats the vacume pump we were taking about two diffrent things, If your sure thats it. you need a power steering pulley tool to get the pulley off.
it is two bolts and a hose that hold it on.

Try some belt dressing before you start. If the cherp goes away then it is a loose or worn belt. then you will know for sure if it is the vacum pump or not

Before you go to the trouble of taking the pulley off the vaccum pump, pull the belt and check for play in the shaft. If its solid, I'd lean more towards the tensioner. When mine was chirping I thought for sure it was the vac pump but it ended up being the tensioner pulley. It's the one under the vac pump with the spring on it.

we pulled the pump and the wheel turned pretty easily...the new rebuilt one was a booger to turn so maybe it's bad we'll now soon as we get this wheel off or a new one...ugh man it must be pressed on the wheel puller was useless..

you have to have a good wheel puller, the cheap ones just don't cut it at times

it's at my local tire/mech shop who do most of my work...running out or time today. Question, This is my first newer truck...yesterday when driving down a pretty steep hill I noticed the brake peddle bumping...in an older car I know that means warped rotor...does the anti lock brakes in these trucks make it do something like that?
