well most of you guys know ive gotten all my parts gathered and i decided to start doing it yesterday. i got the driver side done except i still need to secure the brake line.
before...
and after...
im curious what you guys think. i have right at 315 dollars invested which included 2 -9/16 inch thick brackets(guessing on thickness),2 rotors, all bolts and washers needed, 2 calipers, brake pads, steel braided brake lines, wheel seals, and new wheel bearrings, and i think im leaving something else out. oh did i mention this was one of the very few kits that are truely a direct bolt on swap?

no i havent hooked the cable back up yet. i used front calipers off of a chebby truck but next month ill be getting a driveline brake. we dont have inspections here so i should be ok til then since i dont really use my park brake much anyway
actually i used all the factory stuff except what was listed above. im not having any problems with my brakes locking up prematurely or sticking.im still in awe at how much better it stops. i didnt think a truck with that big of tires could stop that well. yesterday i took the wife explorer out and did a brake test and then took the 79 out. i didnt actually measure the distances but we did mark them and the 79 actually stops faster than the explorer. its so much more enjoyable to drive now. im not puckering my butt anymore when someone pulls out in front of me. i know i can actually stop now
oh the kit consisted of
2 - rotors
2 - brackets
8 grade 8 bolts,nuts, and washers
i bought 2 steel braided lines from them seperatly
got 2 calipers from autozone
4 new wheel bearrings
4 new hub seals
1 - 5 foot steel brake line ( i twisted one off when disconnecting it)
i think i got something else at the time but i have right around 300 dollars invested. i didnt have to buy new bearrings but i figured while it was apart i might as well replace em
