I have a 59 f100. It is mostly all there. The engine was stolen and the trans is out of the tuck but lacks a bell housing. I don't have any of the other parts in the engine compartment either. The truck came with a 302 v8 engine but I don't know the condition.
Can the stock trans hold a 302? if so what bell housing is needed?
I am ok with going back to the inline 6 or a y block. I believe they are ok for the trans.
Or.....Should I dump all of it and get another site up? I wand to keep it a manual shift.
this is a good article. The Ultimate T-5 Swap Article this stuff is still foreign to me but reading this article you can use part of a s-10 t5 for better shifter location and attach it to a WC trans. Maybe i need to just go to a trans shop and ask them to make one so I don't have to buy multiple trans to build one?
another question my vin is g10j9l10281 trans A axle 1 126 hp 4000 rpm.
It shows it was a 6 cyl. but there is old headers like a v8 was in there...
Is trans A mean automatic? there is a clutch in the truck.
I was thinking of the s10 t5 to keep the shifter further forward but if I use 2 bucket seats then the mustang t5 should work and the shifter will not be in the way of the seat. Do I have my info right?
I just need verification of what I've read, not everything on the net is fact as I've found another article that did not Jive with this one( I can't find it now). I like to spend my money once . Thank you for helping I do appreciate it.

The Mustang trans would be the best bet. Second the Mustang trans with the S10 TS housing. Third the S10 trans.
Check those ratios, check the input shaft diameter, all detailed in that link.
