I was looking at a six posistion chip offer by ts performance online and was wondering if anyone had experience with these chips. My truck is a 1996 F-250 7.3 with 224k would a chip be a bad choice at this mileage? Thanks
A 6 position chip? So is it pre-programmed for the 6 positions? I know there are tuners out there where you can have multiple tunes and switch between them. Never heard of a chip like that.
If it's a chip, meaning you can't change it after it is created, read my reply here -https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1258752-best-tuner-or-chip-for-1997-f350-diesel.html#post13393963
Others may have advice on this specific item you are asking about but most responses I have seen about chips advise you to not get a chip that isn't tailored to your vehicle. I have no experience with chips, just tuners.

The TS chip is great. It can be reprogrammed by many diesel tuners.
As far as your link suggesting quarterhorse, powerstrokes are best left to the pros to retune. It's not a gasjob that's forgiving with timing and fuel.
The preprogrammed part the op mentioned is either coming from a used source or the seller just preloads tunes on it for the buyer. A lot of diesel tuners have "generic" proven programs for certain combos. No worries.
