I Just completed Changing The rod and main and bearings
I need pictures, drawings or just a good description of how the oil screen and pickup tube are attached to the oil pump in a 351w The oil pump and pick up tube (new) Thee are no threads on the oil pump or the tube flange .
I should remember but some one else took off the oil pump and screen
Thanks
Sounds like someone sold you an oil pump from a 460 then. The 302/351 both had the pickup tube bolted in place with two 5/16" bolts, 180* apart from each other. If I recall the 460's had the tube pressed in place.
I am still not clear on oil pickup screen .Does the oil pump side of the screen connection have threads (on a 351w) like the block does for the oil pump? how should it connect f I have the correct pump?
The pickup tube bolts on the pump, there are two threaded holes, one on either side of the oil passage (inlet to the pump) that are 5/16" NC in size. If there are no threaded holes in your pump on the inlet side you've got a 429/460 oil pump. The size of the pump drive will also be a clue, the 302 used a 5/16 oil pump drive shaft, everything else used a larger pump drive.
