ive had my truck since january and its been sluggish as hell since day 1. for instance climbing hills it loses speed even with the pedal in the floor. takes forever to get up to speed. ive never trusted the truck to go long distances but i took it out of town the other day. ran it at 70 mph for about an hour. and it starts to have this crazy vibration in it im thinking ok here it goes its gonna die. it leveled out and it did the opposite it was actually peppy and had power. i thought awesome maybe some debris was freed up and my stuff is fixed. but after i got home it sat for 24 hours and its back to the same sluggish turd it was before. so im on the fence here but its seeming like i may have to dead cylinders that counter balance each other or something cuz normally it doesnt shake or anything (like it has dead cylinders) so i dont know i have know idea where to start looking for an answer.
Cheapest would be to ohm out your UVCH connectors. It could be as simple as pulling valve covers, replacing UVCH, and enjoying your truck. If it was peppy at all I find it very hard to believe you have dead cylinders. Maybe loose connections under the VCs.
i just replaced the valve cover gaskets in may. usually it just feels slow as hell but when i felt like it was missing then leveled out it had way more pep than usual
you might want to take a look in the tank to see if you have any restrictions. the screens inside the mixing chamber in the tank can get kinda clogged over time.
when was the last time you changed the oil? Not peppy most of the time, but after a long time at speed and running decently hard it runs better? Sounds to me like it was taking a long time to get up to temp and the timing was still retarded. When Cold the stock files delay timing a lot. A bad EOT sensor could be part of the problem, or I would guess that a stuck open t stat could cause it to take a long time to get into the "normal" range as far as oil temps go.
hutch mod has already been done. checked filter today not perfect getting a new one tomorrow
ebpv is open and unplugged (no jet engine sound)
oil change 3 weeks ago
temp time on gauge seems normal few minutes down the road and it rises
correct after 45 mins or so engine started shaking like i had a miss it leveled out and then ran better than ever before
how can i test eot?
Have you pulled the VC and checked the injectors for spurting oil. Also pull the connectors and listen for a change in engine sound. Could be a bad/weak stick. How many miles are on the truck/injectors?
You mentioned the tank mods were done but what is your fuel pressure at the bowl?
If you run through the basics and it yields nothing it's time to get AE and find out whats going on. It will save you $$$ in the long run and you will be able to enjoy your rig = way worth it.
