Clutch bumper stop
Hi all
I got a 78 f250 with a manual 4 spd.
I trying to to check the clutch adjustment. But I have 2 questions
1. What is the procedure?
2. My clutch pedal bumper stop is so worn out , that I don't have a good starting point to check pedal free play. Is the bumper still available?
Thanks

Not sure if it's still available from Ford but am sure either Dennis Carpenter or LMC should have it.

D3TZ-7583-A .. Clutch Pedal Bumper / Obsolete ~ 4,086 (!) available NOS ~ Carpenter has 4 ,024.
1973 F100/350 from serial number Q80,001 / 1974/79 F100/350 / 1975 Econoline.
Carpenter (800-476-9653) has it listed on page 30 in his 1967/79 truck repro parts catalog (2011 paper version).

BTW, does anyone know how many bumpers for this applications, I read some where it takes 2 of these. Does that sound correct?

Carpenter says 2, one for the brake, one for the clutch. But the '73/79 Ford truck parts catalog says clutch pedal
only .

To check free play remove the spring off the fork and move the clutch arm back and fourth and see how much play is there before the throwout bearing is touching the psi plate's arms. The pedal doesn't really have anything to do with adjusting free play. You may need to tweek it a little if the pedal doesn't want to return, just be sure once the pedal is returning right that it does in fact still have free play at the fork.

How much free play should there be at the fork?
