Pitman arm difference?

Any body know what the difference if any between 53-56 and 57-60 pitman arms are? Power steering kits are identical except pitman arms. Whats the difference?

53-56 has a ball stud and 57-60 has a tapered hole.

Pitman arm difference?

my my 289 said it. Without trying it myself, one may be able to remove the ball stud from an earlier pitman arm, redrill to proper size and with a tapered reamer, make the early arm fit the 57-60 drag link. Now, please don't quote me, or run me into the ground on this, but it looks logical. I will try to locate an early arm and give it a try, but it may be a while before results. I am always glad to lend assistance when I can.

Aloha.

I made the pitman arm for my 60 conversion. You can see in my gallery and it is in the tech article.

Thanks. I ordered from CPP. Every other site that sells conversion kits directed me to them. Nobody has one on the shelf. Goin on 3 weeks now since I ordered it. They say next Friday but who knows. It is a custom machined piece for only 59 bucks. I cant have one made from two for that. I'm not in a real hurry but common... A month.
