"limited slip" + mud + stuck!
I just wanted to get the truck dirty... I guess I picked the wrong line... got it out quick. if I'd been in 4wd I wouldn't have gotten stuck, but once I lost momentum, it was all over.
/me needs mudders and lockers!

Sounds to me like you have good reason to feel enbarrased, sounds like your blood alchol level was doing your thinking for you!
To top it off, by your own admission you drove into the hole in 2wd, then you blame the natural result on the limited slip diff!
I ran Detroit TrueTrack's in both diff's of an '80 Jeep CJ-7 for years, they never broke & they worked well offroad. What kind of limited slip are you running? If it's a clutch style then maybe the clutches are shot from wear & lack of maitenance.
A limited slip if driven properly will do the job & at the same time prevent breakage to axles that are sometimes caused by the harsh action of a Detroit Locker, ARB or whatever.
I run an Auburn Full Spool in the rear of my latest offroad rig & a Detroit Truetrac in the front (for ease of turning & reduced stress on the front end which is not as tough as the Ford 9" I run in the rear). As long as I stay off the "sauce" when operating it, I am unlikely to break it or get stuck because I forgot to engage 4wd.
I agree... really, I wasn't trying to be a hero, just wanted to sling a little mud on the sides... just picked the wrong line and lost momentum.
funny you mention it, I'm getting a true track diff for the rear... front will probably stay factory limited slip for a while for financial reasons.
just because you're in a field behind your house, doesn't mean it's alright to drink and drive! LOL!

I really need to move the air intake though, it tried to stall out quite a few times, gave the wipers a workout too. Keep wheelin Forrest!<------ Needs limited slips

I think w/ some mud tires it might have been a different story... 'course, I'll never find out because I'm never doing THAT again!
