Goodbye...and hello
So instead, I have upgraded from a 93 to a 1996 AWD Aerostar
Low mileage, good body and interior, and the engine/tranny/drivetrain seems strong and steady. The price was right, too. It has a few things to check out - the Check Engine Light comes on in city driving, sliding door needs new 'sliders' (i've replaced them before on the old van) and the radio does not work. I was told that the engine code is related to the evaporative cannister, or something like that. Anyone have any thoughts?By the way, is there any kind of a market for a 93 AWD with a bad engine? I hate to just salvage it somewhere for a few bucks, but I don't know what else to do. Any ideas anyone??
I am looking forward to staying involved with this board as I keep my 'new' aerostar running!!
Also have you thought about buying a used engine from a salvege yard that is in running condition and having it swapped in. You could then sell the van and make some of the money you spent on the new one back. After the engine swap you may also be able to sell the bad engine as well. someone may need one to be rebuilt.
It's worth a try. I agree with you I'd hate to see you waste a perfectly good van... when all it needs is an engine. maybe you could also keep it for parts???
just my two cent...
