Well, we definitely left common sense and logic at home. Today we put money down on a black Lariat that is like totally optioned out. Just arrived on the dealer lot. It's got almost every option that you can think of. The 2-tone black w/beige trim looks great with the parchment interior. Sticker was $38,100 or something. I know I probably paid more than I should, but our payments are about where I wanted them to be and we absolutely love the truck! I'll post some pix when I get the chance. Thanks for all the input, folks!
Yes, it's a 4x4. In Pennsylvania, it comes in real handy with the hills and snow. My wife wondered why her butt was getting hot when she drove it. Must have pushed the seat heat button when she was adjusting the seat. <g> She's worried about the leather interior with 4 boys, but I told her they might hold up better than cloth as long as we take care of them. Don't know whether it's true or not, but she seemed to buy it for now.
Sweet looking ride there, ford_tr_man! White and black are absolutely the worst colors to keep clean, but probably the nicest looking when they are clean.
Now my big decision is whether to get a hard tonneau or a fiberglass cap. Cap can be more useful, but the tonneau allows better visibility and looks cool too.
I've already decided to get a rubber mat instead of a bedliner. Had a bedliner in my old S10 years ago and hated it. Every time I had to crawl on my knees in the bed it hurt. A rubber mat will protect the floor of the bed and keep things from sliding around like they do with bedliners. Much softer to kneel on as well.

im getting a peace edword's rolling bed cover an i think it will work good for me..maybe you should look in to one if that sound's like somthin you might like..
also i put a spray in bedliner in my screw an im very happy with it so far.
an i dident have a hard time keepin my sport trac clean the prob was it had SO MANY scratches in the paint it was unreal i would wax an wax an it still wouldent get any better so i went with white again (my old 98 expy was white)an supprisingly it kinda hide's the dirt when it just a littel dirty
I'd be afraid of rainwater on the cover falling onto anything in the bed when I opened a rolling cover. Also I don't think they're completely waterproof. There may be some water intrusion on rolling bed covers. If I don't get a cap, I'm leaning towards either a Leer fiberglass cover or an Undercover bed cover. The Undercover is lightweight and can be hung on your garage wall when not in use. It's not as stylish as a fiberglass cover, though. But at least you wouldn't have to wax it. :-)
Hey PatThe Rat, nice truck!
Before you get the rubber mat for the box, have you looked into a "Bedrug". I put one in mine and glad I did. It offers great protection and does not screw up the paint underneath like the hard plastic liners can. Its completely compatable with anything mother nature can throw at it as its made from marine grade materials. And if you should put a cap on at some later date, you'll have one nice tricked-out box!
What about a bug deflector? Planning on one? I see Cabela's offers a Stainless steel version from Lund. Just a thought. Enjoy your truck!
I think I'd be afraid of tearing/staining a bed rug if I wanted to haul some wood or yard waste or such. I ordered the rubber mat and a rubber tailgate mat. I hate bedliners because they kill my knees when I have to crawl around on the bed to adjust things. I also ordered a Leer fiberglass tonneau cover. Should be in next week. Maybe I'll add some pix to my gallery.
