funny fact, in NJ you can hunt by yourself when you are 16years old....... BUT you cant drive at 16 nor can you transport a gun until you are 18 years old and get a firearms ID card. So how can you hunt at 16 when you cant transport nor drive......... and yes i know first hand when i was 16 and got stopped
Sad to think how far we have gotten removed from just the 70's and 80's....
I remember 2 and even 3 gun racks for the back window of trucks...and most trucks I saw had the racks occupied.
Whether it's food, sport, or protection, I like the rack idea a lot.
Got to love livin in Texas. I carry mine in the exact same spot, I have rounds in the glovebox.
For reference, there's no requirement that the firearm be unloaded, ammo stored separately, etc. You can keep a handgun chambered in the center console for example, leave a loaded and chambered AR on the seat, or whatever else.
I threw one of the old gunracks up in my back window, just because I had it. I took it out a few days later after I realized 1) I don't have a gun to put in it, and 2) I like being able to see out my back window un obstructed. I still have the rack and will probably put it back in when I have a gun to put in it. id love to have a 30-30 or some other old lever action cowboy gun... and then learn to shoot like the rifleman! lol
The problem is that I really don't want someone to smash a window or punch a lock to break into my truck in the first place, but especially when it comes to stealing firearms displayed prominently.
