DFCM O-ring Lube

Hello. New to SD and new to diesel engines. I picked up a fuel filter kit for my 2013 6.7L today and was expecting to find a "lubricant packet" to use with the new O-ring. This expectation was due to this sentence in my 2013 Diesel Supplement: "2. Lube O-ring with lubricant packet in the filter kit." in the section on DFCM Installation.

The was no packet and another kit at the dealer didn't have it either. I found one thread (somewhere) about lubing this gasket and posters said either engine oil or diesel fuel. Before proceeding, I'd like to know more about what other people do.

Thank you.

I wet the O-ring with fuel to make the bowl easier to thread in.

X 2 - just use fuel.

Never seen any lube in the kits.

Vaseline absorbs into some types of o-ring materials and it expands making it a pain to get back off, and deteriotes the compound more quickly.
Just my 2 cents....

Diesel is a fine lube to use and the o-ring is made for it. Besides you already have it handy
