Delete questions

My truck recently became my daily driver to and from work (400 miles a week just for work) my little 4 cylinder car after 12 years finally gave in. that being said I have been thinking more and more about doing the deletes on my truck, still on the fence about it. truck has been great (currently at 44k) other than a radiator and very annoying 4x4 issue that finally got fixed. DPF and especially the EGR still worry me and i really want to get the most out of the truck and get 200k plus out of it, that being said my question is......

Does anyone know if you still half to have the race tuner or have they figured out how to do the deletes with the street tuner? I will most likely go with and H&S tuner.

I'll start off by stating that this is my OPINION and not all claimed to be factual in nature.

I'm in the camp that believes no amount of gauges out there will save an engine. There are times that they just warn you a split second before you break it, but by the time alert you of a true problem, the damage has been done. However, they can lead to responsible driving habits. For example, not shutting down a truck with 1300* EGT's. Let it idle down to cool the turbo while getting oil. That sort of thing.

Driving with gauges can offer some peace of mind in knowing what is going on with the engine as well. It is also very informative and keeps your mind focused on the performance of the truck. I just like having the gauges as do many.

So for me, the Minimaxx is the clear choice. The XRT has no gauges. Again, not because the gauges are going to prevent a failure, but to make me feel more connected and observant of my truck. If you don't care about that, go for the XRT. It's going to run exactly the same.

The last thing to consider is the MCC custom tuning factor. MM can run them, XRT can't. If you want to run some custom tunes (from SPE for example), you can on the Minimaxx, you can't on the XRT.

Obviously I'm biased, because I have a MiniMaxx, but I love it and it is a very powerful and flexible little tuner.

I might have a minimaxx off road tuner. One of the old ones still new in the box. I got it from Snyder.
Can't use it on my new 2014 so looks like I'll have to sell the two mini maxx's I picked up before they stopped the offroad tuners.

Great thanks for the info, i really did not know the difference between the 2. looks to be the minimaxx is the clear choice.

I do take it easy on my truck and especially now that it is my daily driver now and i put at least 400 miles a week for work plus whatever i drive on the weekends.

This is the first new vehicle i have ever bought, my wife was the one that encourage me to get it after looking at so many used trucks. i just want to get the most out of my truck and own it for many many years. About a month ago when i had to get a new radiator put it, the tech told me that had seen a few trucks with some egr problems, but at the same time he had seen a few with the deletes and they were doing very well deleted, at that point is when i started thinking about this delete.

thanks again for the information. if you think of any other information let me know.

I'm in the same boat just waiting for the warranty to run out. I cannot believe the markup on the off road tuners and still kick myself for not picking one up the end of last year. I thought for a second H&S found a way around EPA with the high sulfur tuning but looks like I would still have to get some exemption letter which wouldn't happen. If/when you trade up let me know what your wanting for one.
