I bought my truck with this defect, on the front of the hood. Just an area that has was chipped off, and is now about the size of half of a half-dollar. I bought it from my friend, and it hasnt really changed at all since ive had it or the 3 years he had it. Just wondering what i should do about it, gonna have a shop do it but will they want to repaint the whole hood? Just a section and blend it in? Id kind of like to just have the whole hood painted because theres lots of rock chips and a few places already with crappy touch up paint on them. Anyone have a general idea of what a shop would charge to paint a hood? And would a good shop be able to match it pretty well?
Lots of questions, but i suck at bodywork, and have 0 knowledge about it! Thanks
Mine started to do the same thing only on the passenger side of the hood, the body shop said they will have to paint a big chunk to blend it in and then clear the whole thing. I'm not sure how much that would be, i eventually just got the whole truck done because the bed was rotting through. Also My truck is grey and has metallic in it so white might be easier.
Find someone to run into the front of your truck so their insurance will pay for it.
Do what Redford said and convert to 05 front.
Most likely a shop would repair the section otherwise they will be blending into the fenders. Fortunately your truck is white. Should make it a little easier. Afterwards you could always invest in a clear bra. They work great at protecting from rock chips.
