I was traveling down the road the other day and went past a 2012 or so 6.7 in flames. Are there issues with the new 6.7 and catching on fire?
If so are there any posts I can read. I tried to do a search but no luck.
This was the thread, but I'll give you the suspected cliff notes.
Voltage regulator in the alternator failed and made the alternator charge to it maximum output continually...this sent way too much current through out the entire electrical system.
Damage:
New alternator
Main wiring harness
under hood fuse panel
in cab fuse panel
main wiring harness
2 batteries
PCM
BCM
new battery cables and alternator cables
HUGE BILL (covered by Ford...thankfully. I had around 38k miles or so I think at the time.)

they don't have a fuse or fusable link in the alternator output? thats scary.
The tech never could positively explain what happened. As long as they had it and as hard as he worked on it, I just accepted it. I have 18k miles since then and I have never looked back

Wow, I am surely glad you were under the warranty. You were twice blessed.
