6.7 Caught on fire!

I was traveling down the road the other day and went past a 2012 or so 6.7 in flames. Are there issues with the new 6.7 and catching on fire?
If so are there any posts I can read. I tried to do a search but no luck.

Back in 2010 or 2011 there was somebody - maybe on FTE or it could have been PS Nation that had one cook - I cannot remember details...

I have not heard of one burning. That would ruin one's day!

That's the 1st one i've seen or even heard about. One thing for certain, the guy doing the video is an ambulance chaser.

It certainly burned. The implication in the video that the fire was electrically caused.

This could have been my truck last July. Had I not disconnected the batteries when I did, it might have happened to mine.

Surely glad you got the batteries disconnected. What was shorting out?

This was the thread, but I'll give you the suspected cliff notes.
Voltage regulator in the alternator failed and made the alternator charge to it maximum output continually...this sent way too much current through out the entire electrical system.

Damage:
New alternator
Main wiring harness
under hood fuse panel
in cab fuse panel
main wiring harness
2 batteries
PCM
BCM
new battery cables and alternator cables
HUGE BILL (covered by Ford...thankfully. I had around 38k miles or so I think at the time.)

Exactly

The tech never could positively explain what happened. As long as they had it and as hard as he worked on it, I just accepted it. I have 18k miles since then and I have never looked back

Wow, I am surely glad you were under the warranty. You were twice blessed.

Rodent nests are a good source of under hood fires. Either the nest catches on fire or the wires they chewed up short/ melt/ burn.
