I want to and went to buy a new 2012 F350 leftover - everything is good except that Ford.com says the truck was initially put into service In September of 2012 and therefore my warranty will expire in September of 2015 instead 2016.
Dealer says it's an error and will be corrected AFTER I buy the truck, so far I have been unable to get a straight answer from Ford.
Anyone have any experience or information about being able ot change the original date a vehicle is put into service ?

As you know already, believe nothing. If they can fix after the sale they can fix it before if they want to sell it.
That is what I am thinking - I don't want to have to walk away from this deal - I am happy with everything else - but am concerned about the warranty issue - was kind of hoping that the Ford Service person would chime in and be able to shed some light on the issue. Bottom line - if the warranty issue cannot be resolved I will have to pass on the deal. I did suggest that they supply me with an extended warranty at their expense - but that idea has not gotten any traction yet - maybe as they see me walking out the door.
They build new trucks everyday and the lots have plenty of others sitting on them. We all now how it is when you see/ want that particular one and then will start rationalize in our heads even though the voice in the back of your head is saying don't do it.

Hi djm1204,
I want to look into this for you. If you've got it, send me the VIN for this particular truck via PM and I'll do some research.
If Ford will put in the writing the warranty period and miles then I would consider the purchase.
Crystal should be able to do that through the dealer for you.
That is all that I am looking for - something in writing - either something from an authorized person at Ford saying the warranty is good for 3 yrs from today or the dealer saying that he will purchase an extended warranty for me at his expense if Ford maintains that the warranty expires in 2 yrs 2 months.
I'm sure it will get worked out - I want the truck - they want to sell the truck - and I think it was just an error because the truck was originally delivered to an up-fitter's location rather than the dealer's lot.

Hey djm1204,
I was able to verify that once the dealership sells the vehicle and it is reported as sold, the warranty start date will update. Let us know if you decide to buy it!
Thanks - I went ahead and bought the truck this afternoon - thanks again for your assistance - it is one of the things that helped me make my final decision to go ahead and get the truck - knowing that legitimate help from Ford is available if needed.
Maybe you want to forward this to your boss on my behalf so she or he can see that your presence here on the forum does in fact result in sales, besides good will, for Ford.

Fantastic news, Dan! I probably speak for the whole forum when I say this: I'd love to see some pics of your new truck! If you need any assistance in the future, I'll be here.
