I am working on a 1976 F100 2 wheel drive manual. I know it is hard to say, but we were wondering what the displacement is. It has its stock V-8. What is the most common engine for this truck, and what is the hp rating? Thanks for any help/links!
Theres only one prob with using the manual, is that I dont have one. My brother bought it 3 years ago to fix up, but he left it sitting around, and this past summer i started to show an interest in it and started working on it. Its slowly improving but I have decided to just rebuild the engine because its started making more noise and running rougher and louder then it did before. Plus all that grease it getting annoying you can barley even tell its an engine, hehe.
there is usually a yellow sticker on left side of the engine. you might have a little trouble reading it under the grease(if it is still there). This should tell you displacement, engine family, etc.
I've got a 76 f100 2wd auto, and it has a 390
All,
If you pull a valve cover the displacement of the motor should be cast in the center of the head. At least, the small blocks were like that. Can you determine whether it's a small or big block?

ok, I've found out its a 302 but on the sticker i cant see anything else*so therefore its there* but i still want to know the horse power and displacement
What would a '78 2WD F100 Ranger XLT .400 (6.6) with the oil bath air cleaner have for HP & Torque? 1st owner had a camper on the back. Sits up kinda high with no lift kit on 15 inch tires even with a broken leaf spring.
