West Coast Broncos: WCB Extreme Duty Motor Mounts 429-460 yea i would like to see a write up with someone using these with the L&L stands, positioning and all ,,,although what I read about L&L rubber mounts when extream off road use brought a break down, others have had them on for fifteen years or better with no problems
There are few possibilities here also. First if you have a 2wd truck you can buy the correct mounts and frame brackets to bolt it right in. For a 4wd it gets tougher. There are a few companies that offer “swap” mounts once again expensive. I have seen people bolt the 351M mounts to a plate of steel then bolt that to the 460 but this makes the motor sit too high. I have seen various other mounts had had hole slotted and used. But so far the best homemade are mounts from a mid 70s Ford Full-size car. The ears where the through bolt should go were cut off. Then the rivet that went through the middle was drilled out and replaced with a grade 8 ½ bolt that was welded to the steel back of the motor mount creating a stud. These mounts look very similar to factory mounts that would be on a 351M or 400 but they fit the 460 and set right down into the stock motor mount frame pedestals."
I don't know if you have checked with "Bronco graveyard " yet but i like their mount better than " L & L " , Item # 20990 a little high , $ 160.00 , but look to be well made .

Yeah , been here all my life and know those areas well . When i was younger i was never brave enough to get out in them , now i'm to old, L.O.L. I like watching the boat races up stream in the rapids , very dangerous though , but pretty popular out here. You'l have to come and see us again .
I think those are the best looking mounts . I don't know how long they have been making them but i wish i had found them back when i put the 460 in my bronco. As a matter of fact i wish i still had my Bronco, big mistake selling it.
Like said earlier, I have read both fantastic and horrible reviews on the L&L motor mounts. I have a feeling the horrible reviews came from people who abused their vehicles, but who am I to judge? I too heard reviews of people running them for years and years without any issues. It's a swap, it's a gamble. You just gotta take your best guess and pray for the best.
"I don't know how long they have been making them but i wish i had found them back when i put the 460 in my bronco." they came out about a year or two ago.West Coast bronco, then JBG started carring them
I guess I should have said it was the best source of info that I found while doing my swap.. I apologize that I don't write in perfectly crafted sentences, leaving you room to groom through them with a fine-tooth comb and bash it simply because you found (quite possibly) a type-o.. You can say what you want, but in the end if you know anything about doing a 429/460 swap then you know that the information in that link I posted is very accurate, and a well made article. The author even included pictures for those of us like me that are visual learners..
I did a 460 swap in a 79 F350 4x4. Here's a few things that might help. 400 bell housing fits the 460 and the transmission( measure the bolt holes to be sure, mine had a np435). The alternator has to be mounted higher to clear the frame, the power steering pump has to be mounted higher to clear the steering gear. 400 pulleys can be used on the water pump, the power steering pump and alternator. Be sure all the belts line up or you'll throw belts like crazy. Good luck and be patient.
