Hi all, and thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
I have a 72 F-100, 302, 3 on the tree. I have only had this nice little truck for about a week and only driven it on short hops (less than a mile) running errands. It starts great, no smoke, runs real sweet.
Today was the first day I drove it for some extended errands, on my way home (about a 2 mile run) the engine just quit, as I was coasting down I tried restarting with no luck. After i stopped I pumped the gas a couple of times and it started right up and I drove the two blocks to home no problem.
When I got home I opened the hood and everything looked to be in order, but the on closer inspection I noticed the neoprene fuel line from the metal line on the frame to the fuel pump was kinked at about a 70 degree angle. I didn't notice this before as the power steering pump obscured it. The line is quite flattened at the bend.
Do you think this caused the problem? I plan on replacing the neoprene line it looks like it was too long and a shorter piece should allow a better radius with out a kink. Is there anything else I should look at?
Thanks again.
Welcome to FTE. Sounds like you found your problem. I would replace that hose with a length of fuel hose long enough to allow the engine to flex on it's motor mounts but not too long to kink. You might check all rubber and replace as necessary since you just bought your jewel.
