Electrical Problems! HELP!

I have a 78 ford f150 with a 351m. I am unable to start my truck. I have brand new battery, a replaced the solenoid and the starter last year, and I replaced the Electronic Ignition Control Module yesterday. It still will not start. I have no power to the fuse box and no lights are working. I checked every fuse with my voltmeter and nothing. I know I have power at my battery and to my solenoid and I looked for a linkable fuse and I havent found any. My thoughts are that maybe that its my actual ignition where my key goes? Any ideas?

I did start the truck for a min and started to drive away then it died.

Thanks for any input

When you say "unable to start" does that mean it cranks but won't start or turn the key and no lights, no click, no nothing?

Sorry I wasn't clear. It will not turn over. The headlights wont come on. The instrument cluster lights wont come on. Nothing happens.

Check the fusible links. It sounds like one of them is burnt out. They are located in the wire loom that goes to the battery side of the starter solenoid.
The fusible links will have little "flags" on them letting you know that it's a fusible link and not a regular wire. It will say something like FUSIBLE LINK 16 ga.
If you replace them don't use regular wire, go to the parts store and get a replacement link to splice in.
An easy test is to take the link and tug on the wire. If it feels soft or it stretches when you pull on it, it's bad.

sound like your battery is getting shorted to ground before it gets to your ignition and fuse block.

I think I found the problem. I think it is the fuseable link Mike.

Are these fusible links sold at Orielys or Advance Auto parts? If I cant find a fusible link can I just use a fuse holder and go back with an appropriate size fuse? If so what size fuse do I need to use??

Thanks Josh

I'd say so. Just be sure you trouble shoot the reason it burnt out in the first place .

Yes they are. They're usually in the electric section along with the switches and light bulbs and such.
You can replace it with a fuse but I would stay with the fusible link. The links are sized by gauge, not amps like fuses.
It looks like your link has an orange flag which would be a 16 GA link like the one I posted in the picture.
I'm not sure what amp fuse would be an appropriate replacement.
