Transmission Mounts Question
I have a 90 f250 with 351w and e40d. I am in the middle of the build and getting ready to drop new motor and rebuilt trans. I am replacing all the bushings with urethane where I can and new rubber where I cant.
My question is, the transmission mount for the e40d, I am trying to find a urethane option. Is this mount universal for other transmissions? nothing I search is showing me anything for the e40d, just c6 and AOD.
not a whole lot of people will carry urethane mounts for these trucks, not enough people are interested in them. If you really wanted to have a urethane mount for the sake of having one, make one out of a urethane spring bushing.
I was thinking about making my own, but comparing images to the mounts that are available in urethane for c6 and aod, they look pretty close to stock mounts for the e40d so I was curious if this is one of those parts that was used on multiple platforms to reduce over all production costs. It would make sense, rather than have an individual part for one engine/drivetrain combo that is so simple in it function.
The expected HP on the motor is nothing crazy, 320-350 with relatively the same torque. Worst case scenario is I use OEM mount which is not a horrible option, but if i have urethane motor mounts that stress and vibration will move to the tranny mount rather than the frame if all are urethane. Ill give it some trial and error and post any solution I come up with.
