We don't run salt through the press, when you pay $5,000 for a couple Dillons you want to keep them in top shape. I was just curious if you could use salt as a buffer, it would be considerably cheaper than using the premium buffer.
Personally, I wouldnt use it in my guns or my press's...just as I would'nt shoot "Berdan" primed ammo...even if that old surplus is cheaper...
Sometimes cheaper isnt necessarily better...along those lines, I wont run AM/PM brand gas in my vehicules...
I knew a guy in flagstaff who picked up old car batteries and used them for target practice out on his property...He'd leave 'em sit out in the weather for a year or two, then when he figure it was time, he'd dig out the lead and cast his own bullets...He ended up trashing a perfectly good mini-14 ranch rifle barrel due to the residual sulfuric acid on the lead...he hated a penny cuz it was'nt a nickel...

What was wierd was looking in his chest freezer...and seeing packages marked "dog" and "dogs"...well around here we called coyote hunting - "dog hunting"...Im thinking he was using the coyote meat to feed his pet dogs...At least I liked to think so anyway...
He was known for his "world famous homemade burritos"...
