clutch disk orientation?
clutch disk orientation?
here's a question for ross or anyone else. if we just put in a new clutch disk, pilot bearing, resurfaced flywheel, new pressure plate, throw out bearing and the clutch does not disengage, does the disk have one side for flywheel and the other for the tranny? if we put it in backwards would cause the no disengage. the linkage moves slightly and does not disengage. thanks.
By all means yes, there is a right and wrong way to install a clutch disc. If it's in backwards, the center springs will hit on the flywheel bolts. The part with the springs in the center hub install trans side.
thanks, wayne. we were running out of time and can't work again on the f1 until next tuesday. we thought we might have put the clutch in backwards and i think you just confirmed it for us. did a search prior to coming to FTE with the question, didn't get far. thank you, prob a half hour fix and we'll be back on the install. dick r (looking at the pic you supplied, can't believe we would not have noticed that)
we got a chance to check our clutch. turns out we had it in correctly. the new clutch disk is quite thick and our linkage is prob a little worn, so we didn't have enough adjustment left to get the free play adjusted. we ended up extending the adjusting bolt by adding a second bolt with a nut welded to the end of it to accept the orig bolt. it worked. am glad to find out we didn't put it together backwards, didn't have time to take it apart again sunday. dick r.
