Welcome to FTE.

Post your VIN and the info from the warranty or data plate on the drivers door, or in the glove box or elsewhere in the cab. It will have transmission and axle codes along with GVWR info.

Tune up specs will vary slightly by engine type. You may have a Lincoln derived Y block....lucky you.

Post 7 here has tune up specs for a 368. I suspect these will work for any Lincoln Y block, as they are similar to SBF and FE specs--a Ford V8 with points being, after all, a Ford V8 with points:

Lincoln y-block 368 specs needed - help !!! - THE H.A.M.B.

Brakes--hydraulic? You will have a small master on the firewall with a hydravac on the frame under the driver seat. Actual brake size depends on the axles. Wheel cylinders tend to leak. Linings and drums are tough to find.

Stand by, you may get a full decode in the next day or so. If you look at other threads here, you will see the docodes of many VIN/Warranty plates. It some times takes a while, so don't worry.

What kind of truck is this--flat bed, dump etc? Do you have plans for it?

It is a flat bed. Plan on hauling hay in immediate future.
Does oil pump turn clockwise if I were to prime it?

I know what the 368 was installed in: 1956/57 Lincoln/Continental Mark II; 1957/58 Mercury Turnpike Bruiser; but I don't have the tune up specs for it.

Could we see some pictures? Here is how.

But I got ta say becoming a supporter is the fastest and easiest way to post pics right from
your whatever pad/cell thing or home computer.
Few of us look in the users Gallery or album as you can see by your recent visitors.

It seems awkward, but whenever you "insert a picture" to one of these threads, the forum is looking for the picture somewhere on the web (which is always available) rather than from somewhere on your hard drive (which isn't always available).

Go to Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and sign up for a free account. Then create an album for your truck. Upload any pics you want to post on FTE to that album. Have this album open on your computer when you want to post pics on FTE.

While you're making a post on FTE, select the pic you want to post from your Photobucket album. When the large version of the pic is open, right mouse click on it and select "View Image Info". The image info will be highlighted and will look something like this:
The best photos and videos | Photobucket

Copy that highlighted info (right click / copy).

When you have the spot in your post where you want the pic to be placed, select the "Insert Image" icon at the top of the post (looks like a mountain) and paste (right click / paste) the image info you copied in the highlighted box (just shows "http://" when it opens).

Your pic will be placed in the post.

Hope that helps.

Here's a tutorial Bob put together: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/67...-pictures.html

Pull the distributor cap to determine rotation, should be the same for the oil pump.

Can is reverse rotation gear drive, if what I saw while looking for things is right.

These guys are talking the mostly extinct language of the Lincoln Y:

As for the tune up specs in my prior post, they can't be far off. Timing, not shown, is probably around 6 degrees, and you can fiddle with that.

You may fiddle with the point gap to get the easiest starting as well.

Looks right. Many times you will find it cast into the intake manifold.

Thanks
