P0460
I have a 2003 E250.
The fuel gauge is pegged to F and I'm getting a P0460 DTC.
I'm being told that the most likely problem is the fuel level sender is bad. I don't have a problem replacing it, but before I do I've got a few questions. I disconnected the harness outside the tank going to the FP assembly. I key on and the gauge still pegs to F.
Question: Is that right for the gauge to from E to F when I turn the key on? Even though the Harness going to the FP assembly is disconnected?
Or am I going to have to start tracing wires?
Thanks,
Clint
After learning this but before dropping the tank, I bought a fuel pump assembly and connected it to the harness going to the PCM to see if I would get any results. The new assembly showed response at the gauge which told me that the problem was in the tank. I dropped the tank and removed the old FP assembly only to find a disconnected wire going to the sender. After cutting out the solderless connectors and soldering the wires together everything was right and I didn't have to buy the $184 fuel pump assembly.
