I'm doing the upper and lower ball joints and I'm down to getting the axle out on the drivers side and it will not come out it looks like there is a seal but no snap ring this is the shift on the fly 4 wheel set up (the hub was a b---h to get but I got it with no damage) anybody got the knowledge to get this axle out ? you tube was no help. it moves a little but it won't go plus it really hot out and I'm startin to hurt and that doesn't help.
It doesn't move,it looks like there is a double seal. I've never saw a set up like this on a 4 wheel drive. The spline is short, not long like on the leaf spring ones. I'll break out Bertha and give it a pop.
I use 2 pry bars, one on each side ( left and right as you are looking at it ), hook the blade of one pry bar between the inner part of the universal joint on the top side ( the part where it necks down from the universal joint to the shaft that goes into the differential ) and the axle housing and do the same on the other side only put the blade of the pry bar on the bottom, this way you can alternate pressure top to bottom and also equal pressure top to bottom as needed to work it out. Don't worry t will come out but they can be a real B*tch.

x-2 this how I do it too 2 3foot bars and it pops out
I tried every which way but it's not budgin, I'm going to go over to the shop and try to make a press to get it out sort of like a bar clamp set up.All the ones in the video are not lke my set up I have the plans all drawn up ,now if it works I'll take pics and if it don't ......it will go into the scrap heap and I'll think of something else........this isn't gonna beat me,work smarter not harder......Bill
That is a great write up but it doesn't match my set up. I have a 2006 and my hubs and all are different , seals too and that is what is hokding it in. I think my puller plan will work if there is good metal stock in the shop.
i do exactly what brett does, usually takes 5 minutes of the pry bars slipping off and my hands smashing into crap before i get them positioned right, but then it pops it right out
Yeah you need to use a decent amount of force, but dont hurt yourself. can you recruit someone for a few minutes? if you get two pry bars it should come out no problem
I just did mine and they would not Pry out so I used a square punch and beat it out from the back side I was not worried about damaging the seals since I was installing new ones and you do have snap rings but they are a pita my snap ring pliers were just long enough
