2009 F250 Maintenance
Hey folks -
I just bought a 2009 F250 XLT SC 4x4 with the 5.4L V8 and 14,000 miles from a local Dodge dealership.
They topped off all the fluids and changed the oil prior to my buying it. But I am not sure what oil they put in it. It does have a Mopar oil filter on it.
I bought the truck for daily driving and pulling my toy hauler when I get a chance (5000 lbs dry, 9000 lbs max loaded).
My question is what maintenance should I do to it now? I am now up to 15,000 miles, and I like to change my oil at 5000 miles intervals just to make it simple to remember.
Do I need to change the oil so I know it has the recommended 5W-20 and the right filter? Is it time to have the coolant flushed?
I just did the slipjoint regreasing. I did not see any grease fittings on the driveshaft. Are there any fittings on the steering components?
Any suggestions will be appreciated. I intend to keep it a long time and want to take care of her right.

That low of miles I'd just go by the book, at 15K nothing special is really do. I wouldn't get too excited about the oil but for about $30 you can put in MC oil and filter if it means that much to you. Might want to check and see if they reset the oil minder, I bet they didn't being a Dodge dealer.

I'd go the proper oil and filter on the next oil change.
There are grease fittings for the steering linkage and the u-joint for the front drive shaft only.
Since this is a 2008 with low miles I might suggest if you are so inclined to pull the calipers and check the slide pins and regrease them.
I would also manually turn the hubs and run them without engage the 4x4 system. Run them about 10 miles or so every other month to keep those components lubed and in working order.
