front axle question
I got a 1993 f250 supercab 5.8 with a dana 50. I decided to rebuild the front end of this truck since it was in need of repair. all the ujoints,seals, ball joints,springs with hangers, pivot bushings. My question is, when i put the axles back in and bolted the spindles on. the driver side has play, ( you can move the shaft up and down a little and turn the shaft with little force) but on the passenger side the shaft does not move up and down and is tight/ hard to turn by hand. it also has a new inner shaft that connects to the slip joint as the groove for the spring clip was rusted away. are the spindles side specific. do you think the new needle bearings for the axles are not seated right. I also had a hell of a time getting the axle to go in the slip joint. this is the first time i ever worked on a d50 and i cant remember if the axles had any play when i took them apart.thanks for any help. john.
