I recently Had the RH head off my 05 f150 Triton v8. After seemingly having everything back together in proper order and alignment I proceeded to crank the engine over with the key. It turned over a few times then locked up. I can rotate it a little less than a quarter turn either way with a half inch ratchet then it stops dead. I'm assuming I didn't have everything put back properly and possibly causing internal damage.
Sounds like it needs to come back apart. I wouldn't keep trying to turn it.
We have not tried it with the key since it done whatever it has done. We have removed both timing chains and found the left cam will not turn more than about 1/8 turn either way. Rain here shut us down for the day.
I went out yesterday morning to start my F250 4.6 and as it went to start i heard a "clunk" like sound.. Thought what the heck, and tried key again, again clunk (it turned a little be for clunk). I thought maybe starter stuck, so i put it in drive/reverse and let it roll back (my driveway is on a hill). It did the start to turn and clunk again. So i was like forget it, I'll drive the Chevy!.. Be for i left i went back over and hit the key, and she fired right up with not problem. It runs smooth as can be, so no clue what caused it, but might be something simple for you as well ( I hope anyhow).
Edit: I did not see your second reply from cell, never mind the above post lol.

are you certain that nothing found its way into one of the cylinders on that side?? bolt or screw...small socket??
sounds like it (The head) is going to need to come back off...or bore scope everything...even the other side. & review timing procedures make absolutely certain that it is not out of time, aka 180 off

We actually were missing a bolt and were thinking it may have fell in there somehow.....lol. We are removing the heads and hopefully find something like that and that no damage has been caused yet.
