Starting issues...

Hey guys!

This morning when I went to start my truck, it did not start up with the key. It ran fine yesterday...

Note: When I went to turn the key for the first time, there was a "clunk" sound that lasted about half a second, and then after I turned the key again, no sound at all.

So, I jumped it at the solenoid. It started up, and I drove to work. Noticing that we had no big work for today, I went to figure out why my truck wouldn't start. I went to go turn the key? A clunk, but it didn't start. So, I went to the solenoid, crossed it, and just a spark from the cross. It didn't start up.

So, I undid the solenoid, cleaned the connectors to it, and put it back in. Went to turn it at the key, no clunk, no start, no anything. Jumped it at the solenoid, started right up.

I drove home, turned it off, and went to turn it back on again. There was a clunk, and then nothing else.

And now i'm here. Stuck at my house when I've got to go to work in about 3 hours...

HELP!

If you have someone there to watch the headlights, turn them on and then turn the key. If the headlights go completely out, you must have a connection problem at the battery terminals. If the headlights stay bright, it sounds like a neutral safety switch problem.

Hmmm...

I shall try that tonight. I've had problems with the NSS before. I mean, when I bought it the wires were cut from it and taped together.

However, now with it connected, my backup lights still don't work. I had to make a switch so when I wanted to go back i'd flip it on.

Get under the truck and unplug the neutral safety switch. You should have two red/blue wires on the plug coming from the harness. Jump these two together and see if it will start.
