So my nightmare came true today. I am stationed on ohau and today the dealer called almost 4 months to the day that I ordered my truck to say I could come get it. So I get there and find out they prepped the wrong truck. So we walk the lot to find my truck to only find out that they ordered my truck wrong! 11,500# gvw when I ordered the 10,000# gvw and the big issue is they ordered it with the bench seat up front instead of the consol. So here I am, waited 4 months and dont have a vehicle now since I sold my old vehicle to get this truck. I can't wait to call ford customer service tomorrow and let them know my thoughts on this dealer.
They play games to get the cheapest deal for them. And that don't mean it has less stuff on it but what ever is on there list to come. Had that happen to me years ago, and this one had less stuff and they wanted more money for the truck.
Same thing. That's what happen to me. Less options and then saying they need more money. I'm sure its a little different there because how far it has to go to get there. Anyway, I wish you good luck and make them order it again.
This time when you order, ask for a copy of the DORA (Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement) and go over it and make sure it has everything you do and don't want. You can compare the codes in the DORA with the order guide (Google it, plenty floating around) to determine what each code means.
Ford builds as per order request, order sheet submitted by dealership.
Order submittal required deposit, deposit given when build sheet is confirmed by purchaser.
Maybe it's just me, but my truck order was very interactive. And I knew the order guide inside out for package combo's/availability. The build request had the codes, but also a description so it was all in front of me. Once I had the VIN, I pulled up the window sticker as a personal check.
I hope you get it figured out with a reasonable solution, I can't imagine being where you are!
I agree. Every vehicle I've ordered, I receive the DORA and immediately check it in the office. Fix any mistakes or omissions, get another copy, check again and then submit the order. It takes ten of fifteen minutes because the DORA isn't in the same order as the order guide or the printed out Build and Price. Attention to detail is important when placing an order.
Me, I was pretty **** about the who order process.. Agreed on the built truck per options while at the dealer, then had him e-mail me the order when he physically ordered it. As a note, I asked him to send me the DORA and he says that he doesn't see those any more (maybe BS or maybe the way the stealership does things) anyway I was happy with the order to Ford.
He sent my VIN when assigned ( actually got from Crystal - Ford Rep- the day before he told me) then rechecked the wind sticker... all was well...
I hope that you can get things worked out to your satisfaction!!

Hi tomstoner06,
Do you have any of the paperwork that you received when you placed the order? Let me know if this was accurate and the truck you received is different; I'll do what I can to help.
Sorry for the off topic but I'm super impressed to see an official Ford rep her (Crystal) that seems to genuinely want to help. Great idea and I'm a little surprised it didn't happen sooner. I would think it's in Ford's best interest to keep a bunch of folks that buy $60K vehicles happy. Thanks Crystal! (Even though I know you're just doing your job)
My truck ordering process was terrible. Nothing like when I ordered my mustang a few years ago. They were not interactive at all. I have the sheet I signed off on and they admitted they ordered it wrong. Only 3 dealerships to choose from in Hawaii so not many options.
Crystal thanks for offering. I already called ford customer service this morning and they are going to contact the dealer when it opens. 6 hour time difference is a little annoying.

Thanks so much for the kind words, RobFlag! It has been my pleasure to reach out to people on FTE to offer assistance where I can.

You're welcome, tomstoner06. I'll be here if you need me to jump in and help.
Crystal maybe you can help me out. Can you find out if its possible to swap out the jump seat and put in the center console. Since that's the main thing wrong?
I've heard of folks on this site swapping seats with each other. Would think that your dealer could just order then new front seat/console and do the swap. Could be a win - win.
