I'm currently in the middle of replacing the clutch fork on my 87 6.9/zf5 truck. I bought a new fork because the PO took a fork from a different transmission and made it fit in this one. It works, but there is a death rattle and I think it's the fork.
Here's the issue. The existing fork is such different shape that I can't seem to get it out of the transmission. I get the fork about halfway out before it binds up on the pivot ball and the case of the transmission and won't move anymore. So my question is, how does the pivot ball come out? Is it threaded in or pressed in? I think that if I can get that out of the way I should be able to wiggle the fork out...
