'47 1.5 ton flatbed dually

Ok, new guy here. New to this site, new to rebuilding old trucks. This truck has been sitting in my Dad's yard for 13 yrs, he says. Presently he's securing the title in NY, then I'll have it shipped to St.Augustine. Hopefully in august.
I posted the few pics I have here last week, to no great fanfare. Nonetheless, I'm glad to be here among the masters, and oh boy, do I have a ton of questions already....howdy, y'all. Bill D.

I wasn't sure where to post to a gallery, so yes, I just put then on the profile. Right now, that's all I've got. Til Dad gets the title, then I'll be taking a lot more. I don't own a shop, just a shed and a lean-to, so I wont be rebuilding the whole thing nor farming out a rebuild. More than likely, I'll get everything cleaned up and working properly, replacing and rebuilding stuff as I go. Once it's road worthy and legal, I'll be wondering the simplest way to get it to go down the hiway at 70mph for a few hours at a time. I did notice there are as many different gear and rear-end opinions as there are truck owners. Wish me luck. I'll be postin pics all along. Thanks for the greetings too!

Welcome aboard. It looks like it is decent shape. Good luck with her. I have a 1.5 ton chassis under my bus. I will try and help you out where I can.

simplest way to get to run at 70 would be a complete swap out of the rear end. what to use would depend on length of original rear end, tire to tire, and find something local that matches really close. preferably something that also has rear springs so you could remount your original spring pack.

Thanks, STELLA1, that's kinda what I figured. I'm trying to amass as much info as I can before the truck is even in my yard. I'm trying not to put the cart before the horse, though this is difficult because I cant wait to lay into this truck. So everyday I comb the Web looking for more usable tidbits. Thanks for weighin in.
