My truck is giving me the code for cam position sensor. I went to advance and bought the sensor. Changed it in the parking lot. I left there heading back to the camper and its sill doing the same thing. I have cleared the code and checked again and that's all that comes back. Is there more than one sensor or is there a fuse that has something to do with it??
Well I kind of figured since I was posting in the 97 to 03 f150 forum and I do have a 01 in my signature that was a given.....
2001 supercrew f150. 5.4, auto. 196k
If I remember correctly the code is p0340.
Maybe i'm sticking my nose in but the 340 code is for an error and not saying the sensor is always faulty.
Since you still have the code it's likely not the sensor but it's having a problem delivering the signal to the PCM for some reason.
The sensor detects a surface change in the side of the cam gear as a timing reference for fuel injection.
This takes more indepth diagnostics to find the cause of the error in signal if the sensor did not clear the issue.
The plugup, the harness etc may have a problem.
Good luck.
I just walked out here to check the wiring and connections. Couldn't see any bare wires. Plug is on good. Rechecked and it is a p0340.
Is there more than one sensor?
This seems like a long shot but could this be caused by bad gas?
Reason I ask is the truck has been fine. And I went and filled it up Monday then shortly after that it started doing this.
Or is it just a coincidence?
