Basic questions

I have a couple basic questions that I haven't been able to find the answers to(kinda new at this).I have a 1957 F600 flat bed with a dump and a complete rebuild on the engine essentially being given to me. Are the cab parts the same on the 100 through 600 for this year? I have found a online store MACS auto that has several parts just wondering if they are reputable?

Cabs should be pretty much the same. Patch panels will fit.

Mac's has been good for me. They were recently bought out by (Echlers?) who started as a Chevrolet / Corvette hobbiest parts source.

Try LMC truck, Dennis Carpenter, or Bob Drake also

I would stick with Dennis Carpenter, better service than Mac's in my opinion. Build most parts in house in USA as well. Sacramento Vintage Ford is another place.

I got this info from a thread on here from maybe two years ago. The cabs are the same from the firewall back on the F-100 to the F-1100.

The hoods and flared fenders on the F-700 and up are 7" longer and obviously wider.

The wheelwells/front fender opening on the F-500 and F-600 is larger than on the F-100/250/350 to allow for the larger diameter tires mounted on 20" widow-maker split rims or 22.5" tubeless rims.

Here's something new: I've been told that the "F-100" fender patch panels available from Dennis Carpenter, LMC, and other places will work for the F-500 and F-600 but you will have to modify them so the opening is correct, allowing some extra metal to bend over and avoid a sharp edge. I have not compared them side by side (I have an F-500 in need of rust-through repair), but to me it looks like the body contour "lip" angle may be a little off as it approaches the door, so I will not claim it to be a 100% direct fit even with widening the wheel opening.

Most of what Carpenter and all the other repro parts sellers sell...is made in ASIA!

Material and labor costs are too expensive to make the parts in the USA. Plus, the repro parts sellers would have to have deal with the EPA on chrome and other parts. Not pleasant!

Carpenter's weatherstrips are made in the USA, not much else is. And if you believe Carpenter's "made using original tooling" wheeze, it's a "play on words."

All it takes to make a repro part...is an original part...that was made with original tooling!
