Question fusable links

Does anyone know if the 04 F150 has a fusable link in the system. Yesterday hooked up to the trailer and it had a shorted tail light wire and we now have nothing at the tow plug in!

My old f250 suffered something simular and it did have a fusable link wire up by the battery. So if anyone knows please advise and let me know where it may be located. Also the truck has aftermarket radio and amp, and the brake lights at the plug do not work, get indication at controller but nothing at rear of truck.

Thanks Hank

Hank,

Just to clarify your post, you have nothing at all at any of the pins on the seven pin on the truck? These should be different relays and fuses, although I do not have the wiring diagram for your truck.

Just to address the obvious, you did check all the regular fuses?

I think by 04 fuseable links were a thing of the past. Look at fuses under the hood at the power distribution box and in the cab.

After you check for power as Steve suggests.

yes we tried to find power at the plug before the rains set in yesterday did not find any on any plug point. The son has some aux lights on the license frame that are from the wiring plug and they are out so there is nothing there. Last night he said his back up lights were also out, but that is probably coincidental unless they share a circuit somewhere?

as to relays that fine, but the fusable link was what I had when I had this problem with the older truck so will check when available. Still have lights (other than b/u) on the truck itself so that is why I believe it is restricted to the towing harness.

Hard to blow the entire tow harness at one time and unclear how that would happen with a short on only one pin of the seven pin as they are not all carried on the same circuit.

Do you have your owner's manual to see what feeds what?

according to the haynes manual there are 3 fusible links plus relays and fuses! But there is no wiring diagram for the tow circuits. Looked at the manual really didnt say much. supposed to be a guy that knows and has wiring diagrams but havent been able to find yet. Will keep looking.

did you check the manual or owners manual for fuses for the tow system?

This would really be anomaly, so I will be curious to see how it turns out. I am guessing you verified there is no power to the relays.

The trailer fuses for the 04 F150 are behind the RF kick panel. I forget if you have to take the whole panel off or if there is an access door. I know there are separate fuses for the trailer stop/ turn and park light circuits.
