3 Questions

I have a 2012 6.7 regular cab XLT and I would like make some modifications to it so my 3 Questions are,

1. I would like to install a Mini Max or another brand but I would like keep my warranty as this is not my daily driver and will stay relatively low mileage. Is there one that stores the stock profile that you can restore stock settings and remove the unit when you go in for service?

2. I was under my F350 and saw the massive exhaust under there. some of the after market large diameter SS exhaust claim to be legal in 50 states. If this is true, do they void the warranty?

3. I thought I got every thing I would ever need on this truck but I found out later that I need to pull 1 mirror in going in and out of my garage. If I buy a set of power folding mirrors ,would my truck be pre wired for these?

Thanks in advance for the answers. I have been lurking for a while and it's time to participate.

Ford has put some effort into the CPU to detect performance programming and subsequent returns to stock. I don't know if anybody has worked around it or not

A " cat " back exhaust is legal and won't void warranty, but assures that Ford will be giving extra scrutiny to your ECU Lol.....

3. I thought I got every thing I would ever need on this truck but I found out later that I need to pull 1 mirror in going in and out of my garage. If I buy a set of power folding mirrors ,would my truck be pre wired for these?

Excellent question

You sound very concerned about maintaining the warranty, with that, how about you change..nothing

My opinions...

While Ford may have become better at checking ECUs for changes, the tuner market is full of smart programmers that have ways around it - essentially making it seem as though all that was done to the ECU was a checked for codes. I've used tuners on multiple Fords and never had an issue at a dealership - then again nothing has every blown up on the motor. So be sensible.

Exhaust cat-back, no biggie at all. But it really isn't going to add anything to the ride either. You may want to consider just changing the rear tip if it is the look you're looking for.

And on the mirror front, I can't imagine the Super Duty is that much different from the F150 in this regard - and the F150 is not pre-wired (http://www.f150online.com/forums/ele...06-lariat.html)
My 2 cents.

Have you seen the price of the mirrors?
$800-1000 each

Used to be able to buy a set for about $1,200 when they first came out.

To the OP, someone will chime in here, but a lot of the wiring in the Super Duty's is already in them and you just need to hook things up and get the proper switches. You can retrofit older trucks with the power fold option so it shouldn't be too hard to do even if the wiring isn't there.

Welcome to FTE Mlkco
I would leave it stock If I was worried about warranty.
While its under warranty let your dealer worry about it and just use the truck for whatever you bought it for!
As far as mirror wiring, call your dealer and ask them. Good Luck on whatever you decide to do.

The only reason i tuned mine was to clear up some minor annoyances-shifting. look up innovative diesel torq 2.2 . they have a small controller

I did look at some used Mirror prices on E-bay and suddenly I'm and less lazy.
The Cat back pipe doesn't seem like I'd gain anything and changing a pipe for cosmetics isn't my thing so I'll leave that as is. I am still interested in a tuner.
I am looking at 14,000 GVW dump trailers and have some pretty steep hills to climb and wouldn't mind and increase in torque and HP.
I am concerned about the warranty though as I only have 6k on the truck

That weight up steep hills and wanting more power from a tune (I imagine so you can get up there more quickly) doesn't seem like a good idea.
In order to pull that weight up the hill, you would want your tuner at stock power, wouldn't you?
If not, something is going to melt if you run WOT up a grade with 14k + 8k tuned.

If you want your warranty and a reliable truck you can work hard, keep it stock.

If you want to play, there is certainly nothing wrong with that but forget about the warranty idea and begin the modifications.
Just know that has the potential to become costly so be ready for that.

I had my driver's side mirror replaced early this year.
Dealer said it was $1,100. I have the ESP plan so it only cost me the $100 deductable.

There is a DPF back exhaust system, but it will not make the 6.7 louder.

Once you lose the emissions equipment you get the turbo whistle back though.
