Hi guys,
Getting ready to order Monday all my parts to do my truck and I'm still uncertain about where to buy some items . I'm looking for the best deals out there , so if you know a better source , please let me know :
- turbo reseal and bearing set with base gasket and bolts I found on eBay for 98.-
- oil cooler seals at the local parts place for 68.-
- exhaust with down pipe straight through no muffler from summit for 260 .-
- exhaust tip 5" 18 " long , summit 50.-
- el. Fuel pump from riffraff for 140.-
- also looking for front rotors , shocks and steering damper . All eBay .
- pilot and throw out bearing from the local parts place as well as the u- joints .
Any input or if someone has some parts for sale , let me know .
I will start a new post to document my overhaul . Thanks
I'd check with dieselorings.com or riffraff for your oil cooler seals and turbo kit. I'd have a hard time trusting orings from a parts store for these motors. For body mounts, i've read you should use rubber like the factory for the best ride, poly are pretty stiff.

where would i find rubber mounts for a fairly low price?
Most guys go with riffraff or diesel o rings because they sell OEM or proven products. eBay can be a crap shoot at times.
understand, buut if it shows to be oem parts, say like the turbo rebuild kit, showing the garret box as well, shouldnt that be ok, or would you still purchase from one of our sponsors?
Are you switching to e fuel? Did I miss that? Once again it's about quality, proven parts. If it looks like chit, smells like chit, then it probably is. The $40 pump might be fine, but I would definitely buy 2 at that price.
For whatever reason, these trucks prefer OEM parts. Something's you can get away with parts store stuff and some you can't. Like our mechanical fuel pumps. They're all made by Carter, so find the best price. At the end of the day, you must decide what goes into it based on comfort level and pocket book size. I've skimped in the past and been burned, so for me, I try to stick with quality.
that sounds reasonable.. and yes, i am switching to e-fuel. Already deleted the fuel bowl prior and added a remote filter. Since i will swap to 5-speed as well, my filter that i mounted on the firewall has to be moved again to make room for the clutch master cylinder. i already have 2 filters, primary and secondary, that i will install on the frame rail with a pump.
I noticed, riffraff has a slightly better price on the turbo kit, but is pricier on the oil cooler seals. I might still get both from them.
The pump is really the biggest price difference.. but then again, i don’t want to buy cheap and break down

Understandable. I think rockauto.com sells the Bosch pump cheaper. I bought my SD pump at a junk yard for 70, but it came with the bracket and wiring pigtail. That can be a crap shoot as well, but so far so good. Hmmm maybe I need to buy a $40 backup! Lol
