Extended warranties available???

I just purchased a 2008 F450 with only 27,000 miles on it. The warranty is just ending in January (into service date Jan 2009). Is it possible to buy additional warranty.

I called a dealer and they said I could buy 7 year warranty but the first 5 years would now be used up....this seems kinda sensless....

I will only be putting about 8 - 10,000 miles on it per year.

Call a different dealer. Buy only a Ford warranty. I think you and the dealer may have miscommunicated. You can buy a 2 year extended from ford (which makes 7 total years) but you must buy it before the 5/100,000 expires.

Definitely don't buy an aftermarket powertrain warranty. I had one and it covered only the inexpensive things. I needed it for an oil cooler problem but it would not cover it even though it was the highest level 3/36 powertrain warranty offered from the Toyota Dealership I bought my truck from. I would only go with a Ford Factory Extended Warranty.<O</O

I recently spent considerable time researching every extended service contract I could find. I didn't find a single one I would send any money to. Every one of them had major complaints and problems. The entire industry is horrible.

You can buy a Ford Premium Care warranty for $2,100. Warranty will give you an additional 5 years and additional 48,000 miles. Check link below

Ford Extended Warranty - Get Genuine Ford ESP

Some say save the money for repairs vs buying warranty. I have an extended warranty on mine and it has paid for it self twice already. I think you can also cancel this warranty anytime and get a pro rated refund. Maybe buy it to make sure you don't have any problems the first year or in case you bought a lemon.

Congrats on your new truck and welcome to the forum

Oh yeah, if you buy the warranty the truck must stay stock. I blew off the last year of my factory warranty and did not buy the extended so I could mod the truck. I just paid 3100 bucks to get the tranny rebuilt. I guess going the other way would have already saved me 1000 dollars. But, guess what, I'd do it again.

I went to my Ford dealer just before my warranty ran out and they never mentioned an extended service plan from or by Ford. The finance manager only showed me a plan from a company in Florida. My research found the company is as bad as the other companies out there. I will definitely look into the Ford ESP. Thanks for the info blue turd.

I bought Premium care, Maintenance & wear and an appearance warranty when I bought my truck. All Ford backed, except appearance warranty, and they've been great. I even deleted the DPF at ~5,000 miles. Truck's been to the dealer every 5,000 mile interval for filters and fluid changes and a few times in between for belts, hoses and brakes. No issues what so ever. I even had a corrupt file on my tuner and the dealer spent a few hours diagnosing with no adverse effect on warranty. I've calculated that I've saved well over $3,000 at this point using Dealer Costs for maintenance & warranty items.

Hi everyone!

Your best bet for getting information on Ford Extended Service Plans (ESPs) is our ESP group. You can give them a call directly at 877-794-6434 or check out their website here: Personalized Vehicle Owner Information

Thank you for this post, I check the Ford web site and it said I didn't have a warranty on my truck so I spent about three hours looking for my paper work and I discovered I did pay for one and will be giving Ford a call as to why their web site does not show this.

Hi GSchretter,

If you'd like, I can verify your ESP status for you; send me a PM with your VIN and I'll check it out.

Are you within 5 years of the "in service" date for that truck. That is what they usw to determine eligibility.

Yes for a couple of weeks yet.

I still have 100K bumper to bumper through insurance though.

If you have 82,000 miles on your truck you can still purchase an additional 3 years from the day you purchase the warranty and mileage will expire at 118, 000 giving you additional coverage for 36, 000. This is the premium care warranty. You can get more miles and longer time, but will have less coverage. Options are decreased when you exceed 80,000 miles.

The diesel care warrany starts at the in service date. Your truck can be an 08 but if it rolled off showroom floor in May of 07, the clock started ticking that day. If you purchase the 7 yr/200,000 diesel care when your truck has been in service for 5 years, you are only getting an additional 2 years coverage/100,000 miles.

Most reputable dealers will sell a couple hundred over cost. The site I posted appears to best deal I could find. If you click on get a quote, they will send a promo code for couple hundred off.

I cant wait to delete mine. Have a mod friendly dealer and considering extending my warranty again. They can still warranty items not related to being tuned or deleted. For example tuner wont void warrany on suspension, steering, accessories, A/C, oil leaks, etc

I like the piece of mind knowing I have a 100 dollar deductible. So far they paid to replace my oil cooler, radiator, t-stats, gearbox, draglink, hydro boost, egr sensor, A/C blower motor, 6 disc changerr. All of which would have been replaced if truck was tuned and deleted.
