I've been looking for, and have found a cutaway van that I can turn into a flatbed.
It's a 2000, with 129,000 miles on a 5.4 liter.
The cube box has been caved in by a small tree that fell on it.
Overall, it looks pretty good. Not rusted, clean frame, clean inside, and 50% tires. The tag on the truck states it's a 136" wheel base. Ford's website say it's 314".
I have not heard it run yet, the owner doesn't live where it's sitting.
I've done a little searching and have found cutaway kits to replace the hole when you pull off the box. I didn't think the prices were too bad. Then, I would want to add a flatbed for hauling my concrete tools around.
So, my question is: anyone ever tackle a project like this? Pro's and con's? Is it worth it? Any advice would be great.
If you have the time to do it and you can save some money. New they are about $28,000 in mn. I was thinking about replacing an 03 with a V10, the new one had the engine you are talking about.
