Engine/water pump question
For my '78 f150 (351m) I took the water pump off...it had gone bad.
Question: what's the metal plate behind the pump and where can I find a replacement as it is bent?

Plate is the timing cover plate. Not sure where to find one. Check LMC truck parts.

Straighten it out yourself. Been there. A nice, clean flat surface, a good beater and a vice will work wonders.
Unless, of course, the crank seal opening and oil pan gasket lip are pretzel-ised... Even then, depending on how bad it really is, it's do-able.

Which metal plate are you referring to?
The one that bolts to the back of the water pump (
8508 in left lower pic) or the front engine cover plate (
6B070 )?

It's 6B070, no doubt about it.
