Yesterday I was towing a load of gravel All of a sudden I noticed my ECT and EOT temps Climbing fast. I Then realized that I was not hearing the fan. I was not at a place where I could pull over so I had to drive another quarter-mile. My temperatures reached 230 both oil and coolant before I could stop the truck at a car wash. I have the CS insight to monitor these temperatures. I pulled the truck into a self-serve bay and with the motor running I sprayed water through the front radiators to get temperatures back down quickly. Two questions should I be worried about any damage from that hot temperature and what should I be looking at as far as the problem with the fan not coming home? When I was able to drop the trailer and get rid of the load my temperatures seem to go back to normal 192 to 198 with no more than a 4 degree difference between ECT & EOT. Outside temperature was 83. Thanks for your help.
Temp. wise I don't think you hurt anything with temps. of 230. You definitely need to find the problem. If you can monitor the temps. and shut her down if need be then try the trip home. You could be broke down in the middle of no-where trying it however. If you hit traffic you will be SOL without a fan. Check the connector to the fan before leaving. A known problem area. Good luck.
Yes I have two codes. PO480= Control Circuit Malfunction. & PO528= Speed Sensor Circuit No Signal. Are both of these codes fan related?
I should have thought to look for codes. Thanks
