question oil leak
So I did a oil cooler rebuild and now I still have a leak in the front seal where it mates to the timing cover... I'm thinking there is a possibility that that surface has a crack in it... I haven't confirmed this just yet... But when I did the water pump I remember that a lot of the cover surface was corroded away... I know eveventually this cover is gonna have to be replaced but I'm trying to prolong this... If the mating surface is cracked has anyone had any luck with using gasket sealer? Also is the corroded cover surface under the water pump indicative of the inside of my block? Should I find a replacement block or engine?

i believe so, the best i can see the oil is coming out of the top edge of the front part of the cooler where the cooler mounts to the timing cover... It is coming out right at the seal and running down sides, i used the write up on this site to do the rebuild, would a mis-indexed tube cause a leak at the flat seal?
