Frame / chassis measurements for 62 F100 & 65 F350 PLEASE

G'day guys.

I'm in desperate need of chassis / frame measurements for 1962 F100 and 1965 F350.

I'm considering putting my 65 F350 body onto a 62 F100 frame but I need the measurements before I buy to 62 unfinished project.

I can't afford to buy it then find out it wont fit and I also don't want to miss out, as the 62 is currently up for sale.

If someone has one or both, I'd appreciate the help.

Cheers, Ron

PS. If any Aussies need some 62 body parts, 65 F350 diff, wheels, chassis etc. PM me.

I can help with actual measurements on a 62 F100 4x4 but I am not sure it is what you want. Here are some drawings you can use, one for long and one for short on the 62. I got these off this forum but forget who to thank.

BODY MOUNT MEASUREMENTS

Thanks for the effort mate, but what I'm chasing in the type of info a crash repair fella might use to repair and ensure the chassis / frame, is in alignment after a prang,, (Aussie slang for crash).

In particular, the measurements between body mounting points.

As I said, I'm looking into transferring the body of my 65 F350, onto a 62 F100 chassis, therefor, I need the measurements for the chassis/frames for both, so that I can compare them.

I hope that makes sense to everyone.

Once again, thanks for the effort mate.

Cheers, Ron.

Your F350 cab and front sheet metal will directly swap to the 62 F100 frame.

This is based on your 65 F350 being the same as a 65 F350 built here.

The F350 used the early cab with some firewall and passenger kick panel modifications. The remainder of the cab mounts and front sheet metal will all swap on.

Your bed will not fit with out modifications.

Body swap.

Thanks Garbz2,

I would have answered by quoting you, but for some stupid reason, FTE won't allow it, even though I am logged on, and yet, I can still "reply to post".

Anyway, thanks for the info. I kinda thought they were the same as I had been able to compare them about 4 years ago. The only trouble is, the F350 radiator support panel is mounted slightly differently between the two and I wasn't sure if there was a difference in the frame mounting hole locations as well.

The tray, or the Bed as you guys call them will be sold off, and I'll build another for the F100 frame. The new one will be around 6 ft x 8 ft long and a copy of the F350's 7ft x 12 ft bed.

I'm basically trying to keep the original look and character of my old F350, but just in a more easy to live with size, (for me and the missus anyway).

As I see it, the only real issue, will be to get the body off and fitted to the new frame without causing any damage. Hopefully in one piece.

I have a couple of ideas, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears. You never know I might learn something.

Cheers, Ron.

One piece is not a great plan as the damage can be significant if you are not careful, twisting or straining a fender joint may be fun to watch but the pain of repairing it stings long after the fun is over.

It only takes a few hours extra work to remove the parts.

You get to see the parts and pieces joints for evaluation of replacement / reuse / repair.

You can clean and rust proof the joints and replace bolts, rubbers, seals, caulking, etc. for a longer lasting quieter truck.

You can clean and paint the firewall, inner fenders, etc. to impress the roos (what we call your funny long legged leaping possums).

You might learn something new.

Yeah, you're right of course.

I really don't want to make any more work for myself.
Only thing is, there is nothing to do on the body at all. She was fully rebuilt, rewired, repainted, modified etc etc.

It was rust proofed, all bolts were either replaced or wire wheeled and coated with Penetrol once fitted up. Hell, I even lightly greased all the threads.

I might just pull the hood and doors off, and walk the whole front off the old girl, just to be on the safe side. At least all the bolts will be easy to remove.

OK, thanks for the input.

If anyone else has some frame drawings and measurements, I'd still be interested. It would srill be a good idea to check the frame before I start prepping it.

Cheers, Ron.
