i have a 88 f250 with a efi 460 finally got the dist to turn ( after a couple of days of soaking it in liquid wrench ) and got the timing set at 10degrees with the spout removed. but as soon as i plug the spout back in the timing jumps to 30 degrees.
ive replaced all the plugs, plug wires, rotor and cap, and the coil what do i need to do next to get the timing to stop advancing?
If it is hard to start when hot, pull the coil wire off and then try it. If it then spins freely, then, yes, the timing is to blame. If it is the same, then timing has nothing to do with it.
Let me understand this you want me to pull the plug wire going from the dist to the coil? And see if it will just turn over smoothly because its not going to start with the coil wire off right?
