I am having trouble identifying my truck by its vin. I have looked everywhere the VIN is to be noted but cannot locate one that is how everyone is noting it should appear. It is a Canadian truck so this maybe the issue. I have found a stamped plate on the passenger side firewall that notes the following
Style: 1C-81A
Body #: 3094
AAD51-174
22
Not sure if the AA is a plant ID the D=flathead 239 V8 and the 51 is the year?????
Any help is greatly appreciated
Thank you
Forgot to mention the plate in the glove box is unreadable and cannot locate stamp on frame rail.
Thru 1965, Canadian VIN different than US VIN, 1966/68 same / Try mercurypickups.com
Ford/Merc trucks assembled in Canada (excepting 1965/67 Crew Cabs) were only sold new in Canada, this was because of tariffs that existed between the two countries.
Tariffs abolished in late 1967, Mercury trucks cancelled.

Thanks number dummy. From what I can put together it is a 51 ford built in oakville Ontario standard can and chassis. Wasn't perfectly clear but clear enough I am confident with that.
Canadian frame vins are stamped on the left frame rail next to the steering box, right above where the sector shaft passes through. That's where mine is, and other Canadian truck owners report similar findings. You should also have a rectangular shaped tag on the upper center of your firewall that has all the particulars for your truck. It's only attached by 2 small screws, so it may be lost to time. (ie; removed by some dastardly po)
